LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (KRON) – Crews have stopped the forward progress of the Cache Fire burning in Lake County on Wednesday.

Around 1 p.m., the fire was reported in the area of Dam Road and Wilkinson Avenue.

Officials say the fire is about 80 acres and is 20% contained.

At least two mobile home parks have been impacted.

The Kelseyville Center will be open for the next couple of days and it remains unclear when residents will be able to go back home.

Evacuation orders have been issued for:

  • City of Clearlake to the south of 18th Avenue and east of SR 53 except for Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital
  • Lower Lake, north of Main St. and Morgan Valley Road
  • South of Cache Creek
  • East of Bonham Road and west of Highway 53
  • Richard H Lewis School Campuses
  • Lower Lake Elementary School campuses
  • Lower Lake High School and William C Carle Continuation School Campuses
  • North of Moran Valley Road and South of Cache Creek
  • East of Bonham Road and Southwest of Staehle Lane
  • North boundary extends South of Main Street and Morgan Valley Road
  • West boundary extends to East of Highway 29
  • South boundary extends north of Spruce Grove Road

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to prepare in case a mandatory evacuation is issued for their areas.

Residents are advised to grab medications, important documents, making plans for pets, and notifying family members of where they are heading.

Roads will be congested as residents try to evacuate, therefore, sheriff’s advise residents to evacuate early to help keep everyone safe.

  • Main Street Lower Lake at Hwy 53/29
  • Point Lakeview Road at Soda Bay Road
  • SB Hwy 53 at Damn Road

State Routh 29 has been fully reopened.

Cal Fire crews are assisting Lake County Fire Protection District at this time.
