AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) Four legends walked the grounds of Augusta National showing their support for all of the women making their mark on the world of golf
Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa, Nancy Lopez and Se Ri Pak met with golfers early Friday afternoon to congratulate all 72 women for helping push the envelope of women’s golf.
With this being the first ever women’s tournament held at Augusta National, all four are just happy to be apart of this inaugural event.
“What a cool experience, you know, to come here and experience…and a lot of them have not been here, you know. This is golf and it’s what you dream about so I’m really happy for them,” says Sorenstam.
“Thank you to everybody at Augusta National to make this possible and we’re happy to be here and enjoy this moment,” says Ochoa.
“I know when they announced it last year I just sat there for awhile and was just like ‘wow this is awesome’. I had chills wishing I could be an amateur again so I could come and play in the event this year,” says Lopez.
The ladies were joking around about how in a game of scrammble they could still hold their own against the field of 30.
