SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) — Former 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman has been arrested for ‘burglary domestic violence’, according to jail records.
Around 11:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Redmond police were notified by the King County Sheriff’s Office that Sherman was possibly traveling to Redmond.
Washington State Patrol officials said just after 1 a.m. a car crashed through a closed construction zone with workers present on a highway in Redmond.
The car hit a cement barrier and was disabled. The driver, who was later identified as Sherman, got out and ran away.
Officials said it was a “miracle” that no one was hurt. They suspected he was driving impaired.
Around 1:49 a.m. Wednesday, Redmond police responded to a call to a house for a reported in-progress burglary. Police say Sherman was attempting to force entry into his in-law’s home.
Police said they don’t know how he got there from the crash site, but say he might have walked. They said he did not get inside and did not physically hurt anyone, but a “verbal altercation” took place between Sherman and the people inside.
They say the domestic burglary charge came about due to his relationship with the homeowners.
Audio from TMZ apparently reveals the 911 call made by Sherman’s wife, Ashley.

She said her husband was drunk and said he was going to kill himself. She also said Sherman had two bottles of hard liquor that night.
When officers arrived, they say Sherman fought with officers while being taken into custody, which led to a Redmond K9 team being deployed to help gain control.
Police said Sherman suffered some minor injuries around his lower legs and ankles. They also he they smelled “a toxicant” on his breath.
He was taken to hospital to be checked out. Blood was drawn to check for any substances, but the results may not be known for weeks.
The NFL free agent was booked in King County, Seattle for the charge and is being held without bail.
The NFL Players Association confirmed that one of their “player leaders” were in an alleged domestic violence incident, and that they found out on Tuesday night. Sherman is a Vice President in the association.
Sherman played for San Francisco in a three-year contract starting in 2018. Prior to that, he helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2014. He played football for Stanford from 2006-2010.
