San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo says his public date with an adult film star was a learning experience for him.
Garoppolo made headlines earlier this month when he took adult film star Kiara Mia to dinner at a Beverly Hills restaurant.
“Life is different now,” he said Wednesday after being asked about the date. “My life off the field, I’ve never really been big on being very public with things.”
Garoppolo said he now understands that being a starting quarterback for the 49ers means he’s going to be under a microscope.
“It is a good learning experience,” he said. “You just have to take it in stride. I mean, it is what it is.”
Coach Kyle Shanahan was also asked about the quarterback’s date.
“I never heard about any of those articles,” Shanahan said. “Jimmy came from a place where he saw a lot of people handle the spotlight so I think Jimmy does have any idea…I’ve never in my life commented on a player’s date in July, so I won’t start today. Because I don’t really think it pertains or matters to us.”
Of course, Richard Sherman couldn’t help but make a joke about Garoppolo’s date:
