GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Officials are investigating after a young North Carolina mom died in a house fire in early Sunday morning, officials told media outlets.

The fire was reported around 6 a.m. at a mobile home at 1742 Ashley Drive, which is off Highway 33 northwest of Greenville in Pitt County.

Major Paula Dance of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said that a 23-year-old woman was found dead in the home.

Major Dance told WCTI that the victim was Teneasha Anderson.

The victim reportedly called 911 for respiratory distress. When emergency crews arrived, flames were seen coming from the home.

Investigators say Anderson’s young son was also at home along with a 13 year old, who was not related to Anderson, sources and WCTI reported.

The young boy and teen were able to escape.

By Sunday night, many friends and family were commenting on social media about the loss of Anderson.

“I’m so hurt!! I’m only left with your pictures and memories! I Love You Teneasha Anderson! No one can take my sister’s place!” wrote Jessica Gurganus Dixon on Facebook.

The investigation is ongoing and a cause of the fire has not been determined.
