Workers rally at City Hall over racial discrimination, unfair treatment

San Francisco city and county workers will rally Wednesday in front of City Hall before they testify in front of a Board of Supervisors committee about racial discrimination in several departments.

Workers across several city and county departments will soon be standing at City Hall rallying about racial discrimination and unfair treatment in the workplace.

After the rally, city and county workers will testify in front of the Board of Supervisors Government Audit and Oversight Committee.

These workers say there is a lack of diversity in some of these departments and that certain ethnicities are hired for particular jobs based on racial stereotypes.

Other workers say they’ve seen African-American workers are being disciplined unfairly and passed on for promotions.

One woman says she’s worked for the city for over 16 years and the workplace has never been worse as it is today.

The rally starts at 9 a.m. and the committee hearing starts at 11 a.m.
