LEICESTER, North Carolina (KRON) — A North Carolina woman wanted to teach her husband a lesson about wasting money, and it backfired in the best way possible.
Her husband asked her to buy two Powerball tickets.
Glenda Blackwell, 57, said she wanted to prove a point that they were a waste of money, so she bought a $10 scratch-off ticket instead.
The ticket ended up being a $1 million winner.
The couple said they plan on buying a home with the money and setting up college funds for their two granddaughters.
The couple says despite the fortune, they won’t buy as many lottery tickets in the future.
Blackwell opted for the lump sum of $415,503 after taxes.
