MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 33-year-old woman reported to police she was pulled into a car in a Walmart parking lot and raped.

It happened on Sunday at the retailer located on South Rutherford Boulevard in Murfreesboro.

According to an incident report from Murfreesboro police, the woman said she was approached by a Hispanic man while in the store. She stated that when she left the store, the man grabbed her by the arm and forced her into a car where she was raped.

The woman eventually was able to get out of the car and took a picture of the suspect’s license plate. The tag, according to police, came back to a Shelbyville man.

News 2 reached out to Walmart for comment. The company said, “Police alerted us to the report of what happened in our parking lot, and we immediately pulled the surveillance video for review. We’ll continue working with detectives until their investigation is completed.”

The investigation is ongoing.
