OAKLAND — A woman killed in a hit-and-run accident in East Oakland on Friday morning has been identified as 84-year-old Anh Thanh Ma Hoang, an Alameda County coroner’s deputy said today.

Officers responded at 8:08 a.m. Friday to a report of a woman on the ground at the intersection of 18th Avenue and East 15th Street with a possible medical emergency.

The woman, later identified as Hoang, appeared to have been struck and severely injured by a vehicle that had fled the scene, police said.

Hoang was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to police.

Officers canvassed the area where the woman was struck for any potential witnesses, police said.

Hoang was an Oakland resident, the deputy said.

The driver of the vehicle was found after leaving the scene, Oakland police Capt. Rick Orozco said via Twitter this morning.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call the Oakland police.
