SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Kala Brown, who was found chained in a storage container on a 95-acre South Carolina property, has filed a civil lawsuit against her alleged captor Todd Kohlhepp.
The lawsuit claims that on August 31, Brown went to Kohlhepp’s property in Woodruff to help clean it up and Kohlhepp took her hostage with a gun.
It also claims that Brown was chained inside a metal shipping container on Kohlhepp’s property, and that he intentionally held her there against her will for more than two months until she was found by Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies on Nov. 3, 2016.
The lawsuit also claims that Brown was hit or grabbed by Kohlhepp.
Brown is suing for medical expenses, damages and attorney fees.
Brown is represented by James Bannister, David Wyatt, and Alex Stalvey.
Kohlhepp has been charged with seven counts of murder for the deaths of four victims in Superbike Motorsports in 2003, as well as the deaths of Charlie Carver, Meagan and Johnny Coxie who were all found buried on Kohlhepp’s property.
