A Washington woman accused of killing her sister was found dead in her jail at the West County Detention Facility early Monday.

According to the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office, a deputy sheriff conducting a routine room check found 74-year-old Linda Thomas hanging from the top bunk with a bed sheet around her neck just before 3 a.m.

CPR was performed on Thomas until medical personnel arrived. 

Thomas was pronounced dead the scene.

Investigators from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death.

Thomas was recently convicted for first-degree murder in the October 2015 murder of her sister, Zonna Thomas, in Rodeo, Washington.
