Woman arrested on suspicion of DUI, child endangerment

MILL VALLEY (BCN)—California Highway Patrol officers arrested a Santa Rosa woman Monday in Mill Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after she allegedly drove recklessly on U.S. Highway 101 with her two young children in her vehicle.

CHP officers in Marin County started getting calls about a driver in a Jeep Cherokee speeding in and out of traffic and nearly colliding with other vehicles on southbound Highway 101 in Novato.

CHP officers located the Jeep as it passed Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, and an officer ran a traffic break across all lanes to prevent the Jeep from colliding with other vehicles.

The driver, later identified as April Davis, 25, of Santa Rosa, eventually stopped at the Seminary Drive on-ramp in Mill Valley, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

Davis’ 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son were in the Jeep and officers determined Davis was under the influence of alcohol. Officers estimated her blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, Barclay said.

Davis was arrested and her children were released to another family member. She was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, felony child endangerment and enhancements alleging driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than .15 percent and DUI with minor passengers in the vehicle, Barclay said.
