CONCORD (BCN)– An 18-year-old Martinez woman was arrested on suspicion of

vehicular manslaughter on Wednesday after she allegedly ran a red light in

Concord and collided with another vehicle, killing the car’s driver, police

said today.

The Contra Costa County coroner’s office today identified the

person who died as Mohammad Ibrahimi, 56, of Concord.

Officers responded at 11:02 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle

collision at the intersection of Concord Boulevard and Ayers Road, Concord

police Sgt. Ken Carlson said.

Carlson said a woman, identified as Alana Urban, was driving a

2004 Dodge pickup truck west on Concord Boulevard, where it collided with a

1998 Acura that was traveling south on Ayers Road.

Urban suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital

before she was taken into custody, Carlson said.

The driver of the Acura, Ibrahimi, was pronounced dead at the

scene, Carlson said.

He said an initial investigation, based on witness accounts and

other evidence, indicates that Urban may have run a red light and that speed

may have been a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing and Carlson said anyone who witnessed

the collision should call Concord police at (925) 671-2214.
