MARTINEZ (KRON) — A 46-year-old woman was arrested Saturday morning in Martinez on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after she shot a man who was fighting her fiancé, police said.
Martinez resident Dawn Iverson was arrested after she allegedly used a pistol to shoot her fiancé’s adversary in the torso. The shooting victim and his mother were driving from the area when police stopped them.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition, according to police.
The incident began at 8:32 a.m. when an argument between several people started in the 700 block of Shell Avenue and led to the fight between the two men.
During the fight, both men fell into a plate glass window, which broke and cut them, police said.
Iverson was trying to aid her fiancé by shooting the other man, according to police.
Officers booked Iverson into the county jail on $50,000 bail.
