Woman arrested after bomb threat at Los Angeles federal building

LOS ANGELES (KRON) — Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department have arrested a woman who they believe made a bomb threat Wednesday morning.

The bomb threat prompted the evacuation of two buildings and several streets in downtown Los Angeles. The buildings that were evacuated are near City Hall and a federal courthouse.

The arrest came just three hours after LAPD Officer Tony Im says the woman made the threat in the lobby of a federal building. That happened around 11 a.m.

Helicopters over the area showed the woman sitting and standing on the empty steps of the building as police surrounded the area. She was wearing a backpack.

Police sent in a robot that approached the woman with a phone, but police said the woman didn’t talk to them.
