OAKLAND (KRON) — As Bay Area Warriors fans gear up for their team’s first run at the NBA Finals in 40 years, a big question remains about Klay Thompson’s concussion status and will he be able to play?
Warriors coach Steve Kerr says Thompson is feeling well and progressing through the NBA’s concussion protocol.
Yahoo Sports Marc Spears, who appeared on KRON 4’s Sports Night Live on Sunday, says the headaches that the All-Star guard suffered from his concussion are gone and that he expects Thompson to be ready for Game 1 on Thursday night.
Thompson suffered a concussion after getting kneed in the head by Houston Rocket’s Trevor Ariza in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night. Thompson was evaluated and then initially cleared to return to the game, but he did not end up playing. The team said that he started developing symptoms following the game.
On Thursday, the Warriors faces the Cleveland Cavaliers to kick of the Finals at Oracle Arena.
Sports Night Live’s Jason Appelbaum and Bip Roberts break down what to expect in the series and take a look at the match-up between the league’s current MVP, Steph Curry and the four-time MVP LeBron James.
