(KRON) — We all know those songs that get stuck in your head.

Well, it turns out there is some science behind why.

A study by psychologists at Durham University in the UK say it’s a common phenomenon.

Ninety percent of people experience an earworm song at least once a week.

Researchers say it comes down three reasons: the pace of the song–upbeat tempos that people can move to for example, a simple structure to a song makes them easy to remember, like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” and a few unique intervals help too.

Songs that topped an online survey in the UK as earworms are–at No. 1–Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”

Also on the list is Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
