(KRON)—Researchers say white wine raises your risk of skin cancer more than any other alcohol.
The research was done by Brown University.
Scientists say that drinking even in moderate amounts of alcohol is associated with higher rates of melanoma which is the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Scientists believe a compound in alcohol can damage DNA, and prevent DNA repair throughout the body.
Some research has shown that wine has higher levels of this compound than beer or hard liquor.
The reason white wine is considered the most harmful is because experts credit the high antioxidant content in red wine for offsetting the risks of harmful compounds.
