Whale photobombs Conn. governor during news conference

MYSTIC, Conn. (KRON/AP) – A popular whale stole the spotlight when he photobombed Connecticut’s governor during a news conference at an aquarium.

On Wednesday, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy was discussing tourism, as he stood in front of the Alaskan Coast exhibit at the Mystic Aquarium, when a beluga whale named Juno swam over to the glass to look on.

The whale hovered over the governor’s shoulder and pressed its head to the glass as photographers captured the moment.

It’s not the first time Juno has received attention for his antics. The whale became an Internet sensation in 2011 after a video surfaced showing him interacting with a mariachi band playing for a wedding at the aquarium.

Belugas are social animals and communicate using assorted whistles and clicking sounds.
