The possibility of rain Monday and throughout the week prompted officials with the National Weather Service to issue a hazardous weather outlook for the Monterey Bay and San Francisco Bay areas south of the Golden Gate.
Rain is possible Monday as a cold but dry weather system moves through the area. The chance of rain increases Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday as the next weather system moves in, weather officials said.
More rain is possible later in the week and into the weekend.
Cold temperatures, rain and snow are forecast for the North Bay starting early Monday morning, National Weather Service officials said.
Lows early Monday morning will be in the 30s with snow possible as low as 2,500 feet above sea level.
Up to 2 inches of snow may accumulate above 2,000 feet by Monday afternoon, according to weather officials.
Rain is forecast to be widespread on Tuesday and continue throughout the week and into the weekend. Rain may be heavy at times and could cause minor flooding, weather officials said.
