WATSONVILLE (BCN) — Police in Watsonville are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Shell gas station Friday night.

Officers responded at 10:30 p.m. to the gas station located at 1830 Freedom Blvd., on a report of a robbery and learned a man had entered the store and confronted the clerk.

Police said the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money.

The suspect took an unknown amount of money from the cash register as well as the victim’s cellphone before fleeing on foot. According to police, the victim’s cellphone was later recovered.

Police said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man, around six feet tall with a medium build and was last seen wearing baggy pants, a black bandana covering his face, a black hat and white shoes.

The suspect was last seen running eastbound in the parking lot behind the gas station, police said, and is still at large.

No one was injured during the robbery.
