A waterslide that badly injured a 10-year-old boy in Dublin last year is set to reopen Saturday.

It happened not long after the City of Dublin’s brand new $43 million water park called “The Wave” opened its doors to the public last year.

The 10-year-old was violently flung off the slide known as the Emerald Plunge, suffering scrapes and bruises.

That slide and the one called the Dublin Screamer were shut down and the state launched an investigation.

Whitewater West, the slide’s manufacturer, did not have effective development testing procedures in place, according to the report from the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, also known as Cal/OSHA.

Now one year later, the settings on the Emerald Plunge have been lowered.

The spokesperson for the City of Dublin says this time around, both the Emerald Plunge and the Dublin Screamer have been thoroughly tested.

All of the slides are set to reopen Saturday.

The city is confident that the ride will now be safe for all riders, but parents had mixed feelings about whether or not they’d let their kid take the Emerald Plunge.

“Not yet, maybe we’re going to wait for like a month before we let them go slide, just to make sure everything is working on the slide,” one parent said.

“I don’t want my kids to be a test subject,” another parent said.

“Seems like they’ve done the adequate testing, so I think it would be safe,” said another.

The parents of the boy who was injured eventually dropped their lawsuit against the city and settled with the makers of the waterslide for an undisclosed sum.

They didn’t want to go on camera but their attorney says they just hope the repairs are made for the safety of the kids who visit the park.
