Warriors’ Klay Thompson is new record-holder of NBA’s single-game 3-point mark

Klay Thompson is the new record-holder of the NBA’s single-game three-point mark after hitting 14 shots from downtown in Golden State’s resounding 149-124 win Monday night against the Chicago Bulls.

Thompson entered the game shooting 13 percent on threes but broke out of that slump early with three treys in the first 3 minutes. He finished with 10 three-pointers in the first half, which is a new league record, then set the all-time mark in the third quarter, breaking the milestone previously held by his teammate Stephen Curry.

Thompson’s outing is one part of a remarkable performance from the back-to-back champs as the team hit an NBA record 24 threes and scored 92 points in the first half, a franchise best.

The Warriors are back in action Wednesday night at home against the Pelicans.
