Oakland (KRON)– While it’s still unknown when Steve Kerr will return to the sidelines on a full-time basis, the Golden State Warriors head coach appears to be making progress in his recovery.
Kerr has been on a medical leave of absence for the last two-and-a half months as he recovers
from offseason back surgery. While he hasn’t been on the bench for any games, he is often at team practices and players say he is starting to act more like himself.
“If he’s deliberate and he’s kind of firm with his voice in what he’s saying in his point, you can tell that is kind of his personality,” said guard Shaun Livingston at Wednesday shootaround. “But when you know, he’s laid back and quiet, that’s probably when he’s not having his best days.”
The Warriors said there’s still no timetable for Kerr’s return, but players are hopeful it’s in the near future.
“He looks much better,” center Andrew Bogut said. “He’s put weight back on. Just looks like he’s feeling better, moving around more and it’s just good to see him. So hopefully it’s a matter of time before he’s out there.”
In Kerr’s absence, the defending champs have raced out to an NBA-besrt 24-1 record under interim head coach Luke Walton.
The team is back in action Wednesday night against Phoenix at Oracle Arena.
