HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was injured and robbed during a Craigslist transaction gone wrong on Thursday.
According to deputies, the victim was responding to a Craigslist add for a vehicle for sale Thursday evening in the west end of Hanover County when he met a female suspect near the intersection of West Patrick Henry Road and Taliaferro Lane. The female suspect instructed the victim to follow her to the end of Taliaferro Lane, where two black males exited the adjacent wooded area and struck the victim. The suspects then robbed the victim of his wallet, cell phone and keys. The suspects then locked the victim in the trunk of his car and fled the area.
Shortly after, the victim was able to free himself from the trunk and call police from a neighboring residence.
At roughly 1:45 a.m., the suspect vehicle was recovered in the City of Richmond. The vehicle the suspects were operating had been reported stolen in the city on March 12.
The suspects are described as two black males and one black female.
