SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Vigils are occurring throughout the nation after the fatal shooting in Orlando, Fla. that claimed the lives of 50 people and seriously injuring 53 others.

According to the website “WEAREORLANDO.com” vigils have been scheduled in more than 30 states. Some of the vigils are at iconic locations such as Stonewall Inn at New York City and Harvey Milk Plaza in San Francisco.

The vigils are in response to the horrific shooting at Pulse a gay nightclub, where people were gunned down in the early hours of Sunday morning by 29-year-old Omar Mateen.

The massacre is considered to be the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

The month of June is “Pride Month” where multiple cities celebrate LGBT rights, and majority continue with celebrations such as Los Angeles, Calif. who had their Pride Parade today.

A vigil is planned for 8 p.m. tonight at the Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro District of San Francisco, to remember the people who lost their lives, and those injured.
