SAN JOSE (KRON) — Investigators are trying to determine what caused a mobile home fire that killed two young children and their grandfather Tuesday in San Jose.
On Tuesday, at around 12:33 p.m. firefighters received a report of a fully-involved mobile home fire at the Golden Wheel Mobile Home Park.
Firefighters were able to knock down the fire by 1:05 p.m. but they found three people dead, a grandfather and two children inside.
The fire spread extremely fast due to the lightweight construction of the mobile home.
“It happened so fast. They couldn’t get out,” a neighbor who witnessed the fire told KRON4’s Rob Fladeboe.
The children who were killed are a boy, 8, and a girl, 10. The grandfather was watching one of his grandchildren and another child.
The young girl has been identified as Linda Van, according to a neighbor.
The mobile home was completely destroyed in the fire.
A neighbor has set up a GoFundMe account of the victims and all proceeds go towards the family, whose home was destroyed in the fire.
