SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A World War II-style grenade was discovered in the woods in Springfield, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon.
The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad detonated a hand grenade that was found in a wooded area at the end of Chauncey Drive.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News that the old World War II-style pineapple hand grenade was discovered just after 12:30 p.m.
The grenade was detonated in the bomb squad’s secure container.
