SAN JOSE (KRON) — The San Jose home invasion victim, known as Miss Flo, is still in critical condition on Friday night.
But a family member tells KRON4 the 88-year-old is “holding her own.”
A large turnout is expected Friday evening for a candlelight vigil outside her East San Jose home.
At St. Paul’s Baptist Church on Friday, the only thing missing from the senior ministries is Miss Flo Douglas, she is in their prayers.
Miss Flo “Mother” Douglas, as she is known, remains hospitalized in critical condition after she was allegedly robbed and beaten by a man, 19-year-old Zachary Cuen. Cuen was arrested on Wednesday.
At a community safety meeting on Thursday, residents learned that Cuen lives nearby and tried to rob another elderly woman last year.
Laurie Martinez Baja and Darlene Denis are organizing Friday night’s vigil for Miss Flo.
Court records show that Zachary Cuen was on probation for auto theft and hit-and-run. No one answered the door at his home, just two blocks from Miss Flo’s house. Neighbors are happy he has been caught.
Back at St. Paul’s, the congregation is praying for Cuen too and for the day when Miss Flo rejoins them at church.
