(KRON/CNN) — A man in Vermont is having second thoughts about his new pet.

He says he wanted a turkey to be a part of the family.

It sounded kind of sweet, but the plan quickly backfired.

Dan Ehlers thought he found the perfect pet for sale online.

No, it was not a dog–or a cat.

“I wanted me a turkey,” Ehlers said.

Yep, a turkey. He loves birds. So, he drove 3 hours to Massachusetts to pick up his new feathered friend.

It didn’t take long to learn this was no terrific Tom.

“He was going after my ponytail,” Ehlers said. “He took my hat off a couple times.”

The bird broke out of his cage and went on the attack with Dan behind the wheel.

“Must have been funny for people to see a turkey attacking a person driving,” Ehlers said.

Still, he didn’t turn around.

He kept heading north to his family’s home in Barnet.

“I had to run up the stairs with him jumping on the back of me,” Ehlers said.

His wife, Jennifer was not impressed with the family’s new addition.

“It’s a workout going to work,” Ehlers said. “I had to run to my car so he wouldn’t get me.”

They’ve tried everything to cheer him up.

“That’s Lilly over there,” Ehlers said.

They even got the bird a girlfriend. She’s nice.

That didn’t help.

“He’s a very aggressive turkey,” Ehlers said.

And his name?

“My son named him from South Park ’cause Kenny always dies,” Ehlers said.

Dan and Jennifer’s son clearly isn’t a fan of the mean turkey.

Now, Kenny is for sale. The couple took out an ad on craigslist.

For $50, you too can own the grouchy gobbler, but under one condition.

“You can’t eat him. He’s not food,” Ehlers said.

You pardon Kenny’s character–and pardon him too.

They want the bird, with a bit of attitude, to live a long life–just somewhere else.

“He’ll never end up on a table,” Ehlers said.

Perhaps a guard turkey, even the postal carrier refuses to get out of the car.

“Stop! Be nice,” Ehlers said.

And CNN too got chased off the property.

Kenny’s way of telling CNN to hit the road.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
