SAN JOSE (KRON) — No one has been arrested so far in the shooting that left five people wounded at a Chris Brown appearance early Sunday in San Jose.

Police are taking a closer look at video shot by party-goers that shows Brown singing and performing when the gunfire breaks out. Moments later hundreds of people scatter looking for exits or places to take cover.

“I got separated from my friends and ended up getting locked in a refrigerator for about five or ten minutes,” party-goer Kaytie Green tells KRON 4. “I called 911 from the refrigerator. I eventually did get out, found my friends, and we walked back to our car. I did see one person on the ground with a wound.”

Video shows people going to the floor or heading for the exits. Police say all of the five people hospitalized had gunshot wounds and no one had to be treated for being trampled.

“He said when the lights went out, someone started shooting, and he ran,” the mother of one shooting victim says. “He says he’s going to be okay, that the bullet went in and out of his calf.”

The shooting happened at the Fiesta nightclub on Monterey Highway. Some witnesses say the club seemed overcrowded with about 700 people inside. Others say it appeared to have lax security and that guards had stopped frisking people for weapons.

There are still no indications of a motive for the shooting. Chris Brown was not hurt, later posting to social media that he was “100 percent.” Witnesses say it does not appear Brown was a target of the shooter.

Investigators detained several people on the scene after the shooting but have not made any arrests.
