NEWARK, New Jersey (KRON) — A United Airlines flight from New Jersey to San Francisco International Airport has been evacuated due to an engine fire, according to authorities.

The Newark Airport was temporarily closed due to the fire and has since reopened.

Three people suffered minor injuries.

A witness told KRON4 he had to evacuate using the emergency slide.

Here is a statement from United:

“During taxiing of United flight 1579 from Newark to San Francisco, the tower notified the crew of what appeared to be flames from one of the engines. The crew immediately deployed the slides and evacuated the aircraft. We have received early reports of an ankle injury. Customers have been transported back to the terminal. We are working to get our customers to San Francisco as soon as possible.”
