NOVATO (KRON) — The Marin County Sheriff’s Department addressed the latest on the ongoing investigation on Friday afternoon of the deadly shooting that killed a Novato High School student and injured another on Wednesday night.
Novato High School has been closed on Friday.
Officials have confirmed that all victims and suspects, in this case, are students of Novato High School.
The two victimized students were both stabbed and shot.
One student was killed, 17-year-old Josue Ramirez Guerra, of San Rafael.
One student was injured. The victim that was taken to the hospital is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. According to a Marin County sheriff official, “he is in much better condition and is talking”, he is going to survive.
There will be a candlelight vigil at Novato High School on Sunday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. for the victims of the shooting.
There are three suspected students, two have been arrested for murder, one is wanted in an ongoing search and is considered at large.
The suspects were described as three Hispanic males, based on information from the first victim, according to police.
Two suspects were arrested on Thursday after police conducting high-risk tactical raids in Novato, according to Marin County sheriff officials.
On Thursday around 2:12 p.m. sheriff officials announced a raid in the area of Rowland and South Novato boulevards.
Shortly after officials arrived at the home, a male walked out of the residence and was taken into custody. The 17-year-old male is being detained in connection with the murder.
Police then conducted a second tactical operation on Leafwood Drive. A second suspect was then detained.
A young female who lives in the Leafwood complex, Karen Ochoa said, “I just saw him coming down the stairs with his hands in the air. I’m shocked. He seemed like a good kid. I didn’t know he did anything wrong”.
An official with the Marin County Sheriff’s Department expressed the counties low homicide rate. This horrific event is taking a toll on the community, “Novato is a small community, you feel the rippling impact of this tragic event in the community”.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Department and the attorney office are working together throughout this investigation.

Forensic tests, including toxicology, are scheduled for early next week to determine the cause and manner of death of the teen.
