BURLINGAME (KRON) — Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, arrived at the CA GOP Convention in the Bay Area on Friday afternoon via an abnormal route.

Trump took an alternative route to get inside of the CA GOP Convention at the Hyatt Hotel in Burlingame. His motorcade pulled off Highway 101, Trump then climbed through the freeway barricade to avoid crowds of protesters at the front door of the convention.

He was welcomed by protestors chanting graphic comments, holding signs and diverse flags.

Trump remarked on his entrance when he began his speech just before 1 p.m., nearly an hour late.

“That was not the easiest entrance I’ve ever made,” Trump describing having to make his way through a concrete barricade, “It felt like I was crossing the border”.

During his lunchtime speech, Trump took aim at the other candidates, poking fun at both Cruz and Kasich.

Once Trump finished speaking he exited the convention the same way, out the back door to his motorcade sitting on the shoulder of Highway 101.

Republican Candidates, John Kasich and Ted Cruz, will both speak at the convention. Kasich will speak on Friday evening and Cruz will speak on Saturday Morning.

California’s June primary usually comes after the party nominees are known but this time looms as a decisive contest that could either clinch the prize for Trump or force him into a contested convention in July.
