Video: Tech leaders talk to high school students about forming their own companies

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The tech industry is often criticized for lack of diversity, including few women and minorities, and for families being displaced by tech workers.

But KRON’s Vicki Liviakis shows where tech is taking a new tact.

San Francisco’s Mission District is where techies and tenants may have found themselves at odds. But at Mission High School, tech leaders are talking to the kids about forming their own tech companies.

One high schooler has already developed his own app. Mission High has been adopted by the company Dropbox.

The founders of Dropbox are sharing their own stories of success and failure, and, perhaps on the side, scouting out some potential talent.
