SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park Tuesday morning, according to police.

A gardener found the body face down in Alvord Lake on the east side of the park near the entrance, according to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.

San Francisco police are at the scene investigating the death.

Police said there may have been a sign of a struggle related to the death, but investigators haven’t confirmed that yet.

The man’s name is not yet being released by the medical examiner’s office.

A homicide unit is also at the scene but authorities have not ruled it as a homicide yet.

Investigators are draining the lake to gather more evidence.

The city medical examiner’s office is at the scene.

The small lake will be drained so investigators can look for any other possible evidence in the case, Manfredi said. Police are also canvassing the area looking for witnesses or surveillance footage that may help in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
