SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—This latest rain storm has wreaked havoc on Bay Area roads on Saturday.
Bay Bridge traffic was backed up for up to one hour around 3 p.m.
KRON4’s Ella Sogomonian spoke to drivers trying to keep out of harm’s way.
The weather system passing over is testing Bay Area drivers.
“We need it I don’t like driving in it or the traffic jams that come along,” one driver said.
At least 8 known cars were involved in three separate crashes pushing back drivers’ commutes by up to an hour.
But the rain didn’t stop people from enjoying their Saturday stroll geared with rain boots, umbrellas, and coats.
“I particularly like rain so I like going out,” one San Francisco resident said.
Those from the East Coast say they’re used to harsher elements and don’t mind the wet weather one bit – even wearing shorts.
“The weather back home is really snowy right now so this isn’t too bad I enjoy this,” one East Coast resident said.
This family spent the day at the Exploratorium with their youngest who says he loves the rain.
“Because all the plants can grow and we can eat the fruit and vegetables,” the boy said.
California Highway Patrol says all these wrecks are a good reminder to slow down in the rain, keep your distance from the car in front of you, and make sure your car is working well before you start driving.
