CASTRO VALLEY (KRON) — This second wave of stormy weather is already taking a toll on Castro Valley.
At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, a tree fell on a car, injuring the driver, according to Alameda County Fire.
The man was the only person in the car, and his injuries are non-life-threatening, authorities said.
The tree also took out some surrounding power lines.
Crow Canyon Rd. is now closed to traffic between Greenridge Rd. and Cold Water Dr.
Crews are working to clear the road, but officials have no estimation for when it will be reopened.
Alameda County Fire also reported the closure of Palomares Rd. in Castro Valley due to a mudslide.
The report came across their Twitter page at 12:10 a.m. this afternoon.
The road is closed between Palo Verde Road in the unincorporated community of Castro Valley and Niles Canyon Road.
A county public works crew is on site working to clear the mud and debris from the road.
KRON4’s Daniel Villareal went out to the scene, and found it was not just a mudslide causing problems.
Large pieces of broken tree were washed into a drain that leads to the creek along Palomares Rd. The debris clogged the drain, and instead of flowing into the creek, the water and debris spilled over the roadway.
Crews used a backhoe to remove the debris plugging up the drain.
