UNION CITY (KRON) — In the East Bay, neighbors in Union City have been dealing with a spike in residential burglaries.

Since February 15, there have been six burglaries in which thieves entered homes and stole jewelry, electronics, passports and cash.

There have also been two attempted break-ins, where the suspects fled before entering the homes.

Neighbors in at least one targeted area said they are doing their best to spread the word about any problems.

“Usually, we will hear from people when something has happened,” Union City resident Leslie Autenreith said. “A lot of times, we will know right away, ‘Oh, something happened at this house. A car got stolen, whatever it is. So, everyone is on the lookout, and we are in good communication with each other.”

So far, police have not identified any suspects in connection with these latest break-ins.
