BERKELEY (KRON) — All social events taking place at fraternity’s associated with the University of California at Berkeley campus has been stopped.

According to the UC Berkeley Interfraternity Council, they have voluntarily decided to “suspend” all social events due to two recent sexual assault cases sparked at the campus within past weeks.

On two separate occasions two female victims have been sexually assaulted at off-campus fraternities on October 14th and 15th.

The two cases are not related to one another.

The IFC wishes to restore a safe environment and eliminate a sexual violence from their community.

No arrest have been made, and police have not mentioned which fraternities were the locations where the assaults occurred.

Police want to remind students that 80 percent of sexual assault and rapes are by someone known to the victim, and on college campuses 90 percent of survivors know their attacker.
