SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON has a warning for smartphone users on Tuesday night.
A dangerous malware called HummingBad has infected over 10 million phones.
The mobile security research firm Check Point discovered the China-based group of cyber criminals that has been using the malware to attack Android phones.
Over a five-month period, they generated $300,000 per month in “fraudulent ad revenue.”
They did this by taking over people’s phones and then forcing them to download apps and click on ads.
Malware on smartphones is a growing problem and something you need to protect yourself from.
