OAKLAND (KRON) — The Oakland police SWAT team surrounded a building for hours near the 880 freeway.

KRON4’s Maureen Kelly had the dramatic video as police ordered the occupants inside a reported illegal gambling den to come out with their hands up.

“Come out with nothing in your hands or we are going to send in the dogs!”

That’s the Oakland police SWAT team after they’d surrounded a building on East 12th St. near 14th Ave.

Police called in after reports of a shooting inside a little after 3 a.m.

Slowly, a number of people inside the business came out with their hands up and were put into cuffs.

One person was being supported by others limping out apparently wounded in the leg.

We do know that one person was shot and has already been treated and released.

The incident stretched into the morning with East 12th street closed between 14th and 17th Avenues as police waited for those responsible for the shooting to give themselves up.

By 9:30 a.m., two people were eventually arrested for the shooting and the SWAT team went to see if anyone else was hiding inside.

No one else was found, but some weapons were discovered.

“During that search they did recover a shotgun and a replica handgun,” said Officer Marco Marquez of the Oakland Police Department

There have been reports that the place where the shots were fired houses an illegal gambling operations.

“We can’t confirm or deny this activity that’s happening in this building,” Marquez said.

Police say they continue to interview the dozen or so other people who came out during the incident to try to determine whether or not they are victims or merely witnesses.
