(KRON) Actress Sharon Stone took a stand against rape in Santa Clara Friday.
Stone read a letter from Emily Doe today in the infamous Stanford rape case involving swimmer Brock Turner.
The letter was penned by the Stanford rape survivor and originally read in court during the sentencing phase of the trial
Stone was taking part in an event at Santa Clara University called “One Voice” Campus Sexual Assault Symposium.
Former Stanford University athlete Brock Turner was convicted of attacking Emily Doe while she was passed out near a trash bin on campus in January 2015. Turner’s six-month prison sentence sparked national outrage and ignited a debate about campus rape and the criminal justice system.
She has chosen to remain anonymous but wrote an essay about the experience that received wide attention.
