OAKLAND (KRON) — A video from Monday night’s A’s baseball game shows a security guard punching a fan multiple times.

In the video a person wearing a security jacket and another person wrestle aggressively as another bystander and security guard try to pull them apart.

At one point the guard is visibly throwing punches.

The ball club says they are taking this incident “seriously,” and have referred the case to the Oakland police department.

The Athletic’s third party security company hired a sub-contractor for last night’s game, according an Athletic’s spokesperson.

“The individual involved in last night’s incident is an employee of this sub-contractor,” the spokesperson said. “This individual will not return to work A’s games.”

Here is the Athletic’s original statement about what happened.

During tonight’s game, there was an incident involving a security guard. We contract with a third-party security company and are currently investigating the situation. Violence in any form is not acceptable. We take this incident seriously.”

This was the first of four games in the “Bay Bridge” series against the San Francisco Giants.

Here is a statement from police:

On July 31st, 2017, at about 9:00 PM, a stadium security officer’s back pack was taken while they were on duty. The back pack was located by another security guard in possession of a fan in another section. When that security officer confronted the fan a fight ensued. OPD officers responded to the incident. Security had escorted the fan out of stadium before officers arrived on scene. The backpack was recovered but some items were missing from it.

The incident is under investigation.
