ALAMEDA (KRON) — In the Bay Area, people say they are concerned about security at local recruiting offices.

Like the one in Chattanooga, they are often in busy areas like strip malls.

KRON 4’s Emily Turner talked to people who work near some local recruiting centers. They said the images and events in Chattanooga hit close to home for many, even though they happened miles and miles away.

“It’s kind of scary to think of people who are killing recruiters who are helping kids out, helping us out,” said Evelyn Barba, who works right below an Alameda recruiting office.

Military officials said they will look into the issue of arming military personnel at recruiting offices, but they said it is too early to talk about that possibility beyond that.
