OAKLAND (KRON) — Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s fans gave him a rock star welcome when he arrived for the grand opening of his new Beast Mode store in Oakland.

The Oakland native was flanked by his sister and grandmother when Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf proclaimed Feb. 6 Marshawn Lynch Day.

“A steadfast booster and positive representative of Oakland, therefore be it proclaimed that today is Beast Mode Day,” Schaaf said.

At one point, free Beast Mode coffee drinks were being passed out. And Starbucks is getting in on some of that business too with Beast Mode Frappuccino.

Inside the Beast Mode store, Lynch’s fans found merchandise with Oakland phrases popularized by Lynch on T-shirts. Also inside, at least one local reporter got a personal escort by Lynch out of the store for asking him a question.

He really doesn’t like talking to the media. But he does like helping children. A portion of the sales from the grand opening will benefit his Fam 1st Family Foundation.
