UPDATE: The shelter-in-place has been lifted, but the suspect has not been caught, police said.

Police said they will continue to be in the area while they still investigate.


BERKELEY (KRON) — Officers are in the area bounded by Tenth St, Delaware St, Ninth St, and Hearst Ave searching for a suspect who is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier Tuesday afternoon.

“Residents in the area are advised to shelter in place and immediately call the Berkeley Police Department should they notice anything suspicious in their neighborhood,” police said.

At least one person was shot and injured in West Berkeley on Tuesday, police said.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. near San Pablo Avenue and Delaware Street

Callers reported hearing multiple gunshots there.

A victim was found with at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, according to police.

Authorities did not immediately have information on the victim’s condition.
