MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — The Osher Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael had been evacuated Wednesday morning due to a bomb threat, according to Marin County Sheriff’s officials.

But no suspicious device was found and the all-clear has been given at around 11:30 a.m, sheriff’s deputies said.

Police were asking residents to avoid the 200 block of N. San Pedro. The surrounding areas and schools were put lockdown as a precaution.

The center had been safely evacuated. About 200 students were evacuated to Venicia Valley School at 177 N San Pedro Rd.

Sheriff’s officials conducted a physical search of the campus. Authorities say they did not find any suspicious device.

The initial threat was received by JCC staff at 8:45 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies are actively working to identify the origin of the call.

Other JCCs in the Bay Area, like Palo Alto, say they are aware of the threats but have not received any threats themselves.

Threats were also made at several JCCs across the country including Florida and Connecticut. It is unclear if all the threats are connected.

Meanwhile, the Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School in Foster City also received a bomb threat at around 8:45 a.m. The school was evacuated, but the all-clear was given at around 12:15 p.m.
