SAN MATEO (KRON) — A San Mateo woman was arraigned on her sixth DUI charge on Friday morning.

The 56-year-old was actually still on probation from a previous felony DUI when she was involved in a crash in Marin County on Sunday.

Ellen Carol Yandell did not enter a plea Friday morning inside a Marin County courthouse, as she was arraigned for a felony DUI and misdemeanor hit-and-run.

Those charges could end up with her serving a state prison sentence of nearly four years since she was still on probation for a 2014 DUI and for a 2013 charge of battery on a peace officer when she was arrested on Sunday.

According to a criminal complaint, she was also convicted of a 2006 felony DUI up in Madera County and has three more DUIs on her rap sheet from Santa Clara County

The most-recent alleged offense happened on a quiet cul-de-sac in San Anselmo.

It was around 3 p.m. when someone on the street called 911 reporting a suspected drunk driver crashing into a fence.

“The keys were taken from the driver,” Central Marin police Cpl. Alberto Duenas said. “The driver attempted to flee the area but was so intoxicated that she ended up stumbling and then collapsing in the middle of the street. That’s when our officers showed up, arrived on-scene, and found her…passed out.”

Neighbors who live on this street were disturbed to find out about Yandell’s record.

Yandell is also in trouble because she was under court order to only drive a car equipped with a device that requires the driver to take a breathalyzer test before it will start. And police said she did not do that on the day of the crash.

Yandell did bail out of jail Friday afternoon and does still have a valid driver’s license.

She won’t get it suspended unless her blood alcohol tests come back from the day of the crash as .08 or higher.
