SAN JOSE (KRON) — San Jose police are searching for the hit-and-run driver that left a young man in a coma.
KRON’s Alecia Reid spoke exclusively with the family that is pleading for the driver to turn him or herself in.
Doctors at the Regional Medical Center are doing their best to keep the victim alive.
Eduardo’s family has been at his bedside since the accident happened. He was in critical condition after being run over.
Now, he is in a coma, with a broken leg, and serious head injuries.
Candy Bui told KRON the last time anyone heard from her cousin, Eduardo Saucedo Gomez, was last Wednesday around 4:30 a.m. when he called his mom to let her know he was on the way home from work.
By 5 a.m. he was in critical condition from an accident.
Witnesses said the 26-year-old was in the crosswalk, heading to Via Ferrari, when a car heading east on Story Road plowed into him. He and his bicycle landed more than 200 feet away.
But the driver kept going.
Eduardo’s family is being optimistic he will get through this. His cousin told KRON he recently moved his hand.
In the meantime, they hope surveillance cameras at the intersection captured images of the car that sped away after the accident.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Gomez.
